Community Guidelines

Last updated: 12 August 2026

1. Welcome to Birdmember

Birdmember is a private professional community exclusively for verified airline crew members, operated by Birdmember GmbH, Switzerland. Only verified members may view other members' profiles and interact through the platform.

Our purpose is to help airline crew connect during layovers in a safe, respectful, and professional environment. These Community Guidelines explain how we expect members to treat one another so that Birdmember remains a place crew can trust.

These Guidelines form part of, and should be read together with, the Birdmember Terms of Service. Serious or repeated violations of these Guidelines may also constitute a violation of the Terms. How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

2. Our core principle

Birdmember is a professional crew-only community. Members should treat each other with the same level of respect, discretion, and professionalism they would expect from fellow crew members offline.

3. Respectful behaviour

Be courteous and considerate in profiles, messages, and interactions. The following are not allowed:

  • harassment, bullying, intimidation, or threats;
  • stalking or repeated unwanted contact;
  • discrimination or hate speech;
  • abusive behaviour or targeted humiliation.

If someone blocks you or does not respond, respect that decision. Do not pressure, pursue, or attempt to contact them through alternative means on Birdmember.

4. Sexual content and harassment

Birdmember is a social networking application for professional crew connection. It is not a platform for sexual exploitation or explicit content.

The following are prohibited:

  • unsolicited sexually explicit content;
  • sexual harassment;
  • coercive sexual behaviour;
  • non-consensual intimate imagery;
  • sexual exploitation;
  • sexual content involving minors;
  • grooming or exploitation of minors.

These rules focus on safety, consent, and inappropriate content. They do not prohibit normal consensual social interaction or dating between adult members who choose to connect through Birdmember.

5. Authenticity and crew verification

Birdmember is a verified crew-only network. Trust depends on members being who they say they are. You must not:

  • pretend to be another person;
  • falsely claim employment by an airline;
  • attempt to bypass verification;
  • use another person's corporate email;
  • create deceptive accounts;
  • manipulate verification systems; or
  • mislead users about your professional identity.

Birdmember may request additional verification or restrict an account if authenticity is reasonably questioned.

6. Privacy and confidentiality

Respect other members' privacy. Do not:

  • publish another member's private messages without a legitimate reason or permission;
  • share another user's personal data maliciously;
  • engage in doxxing;
  • use another person's photographs without authorization;
  • attempt to collect or scrape member information;
  • misuse information about another crew member's layover; or
  • use Birdmember information to track, harass, or endanger another person.

Layover information is provided to enable crew networking. It must not be misused.

7. Photos and content

You are responsible for the content you upload, including profile information, profile photographs, messages, and photos shared in chats.

Do not upload or share content that:

  • violates another person's rights;
  • contains illegal material;
  • infringes intellectual property;
  • depicts non-consensual intimate imagery;
  • promotes violence or exploitation;
  • contains malicious or fraudulent material; or
  • contains child sexual abuse or exploitation material.

8. Spam, scams, and commercial misuse

Birdmember is for crew connection, not for opportunistic commercial abuse. The following are prohibited:

  • spam, scams, phishing, or fraudulent schemes;
  • unsolicited mass messaging;
  • unauthorized advertising;
  • pyramid schemes;
  • attempts to sell or promote unrelated commercial products;
  • automated messaging or scraping; and
  • use of Birdmember data for recruitment, marketing, or profiling without authorization.

9. Illegal or dangerous activity

You may not use Birdmember to facilitate:

  • criminal activity;
  • threats of violence;
  • exploitation;
  • fraud;
  • trafficking;
  • sale or distribution of illegal goods; or
  • other unlawful conduct.

10. Child safety

Birdmember is intended only for users aged 18 or older and for professional airline crew members.

Birdmember has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse, child sexual exploitation, grooming, sexualization of minors, or child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Any such content or conduct is strictly prohibited and may be reported to competent authorities where required by law.

11. Reporting

If something feels wrong, you can report:

  • another user;
  • inappropriate content; or
  • problematic messages or behaviour.

Reports are reviewed by Birdmember Support. Please include enough context for us to assess the issue. We do not commit to a fixed response time unless we publish one separately.

If you or someone else is in immediate physical danger, contact appropriate local emergency services. Do not rely on Birdmember as an emergency response service.

12. Blocking

You can block other members. A blocked user should no longer be able to interact with you through the functionality provided for blocking.

You must not create or use alternative accounts to circumvent another user's block.

13. Offline meetings

Birdmember helps verified crew members connect during layovers, including offline. When meeting outside the app:

  • respect another person's decision not to meet;
  • meet responsibly;
  • respect personal boundaries;
  • never pressure another member; and
  • do not misuse professional or layover information.

As described in the Terms of Service, you are responsible for your own offline decisions. Birdmember does not supervise private meetings between users.

14. Enforcement

Birdmember evaluates reports and potential violations based on context and severity. We do not promise identical enforcement for every situation.

Possible actions may include:

  • a warning;
  • content removal;
  • feature restriction;
  • temporary suspension;
  • verification review; or
  • permanent account removal.

Serious violations may result in immediate suspension or termination. Repeated violations may lead to escalating enforcement.

Where required by law, Birdmember will provide appropriate information about moderation decisions and available redress mechanisms.

15. Moderation and legal requests

Birdmember may remove or restrict content or accounts when necessary to enforce the Terms of Service or these Guidelines, comply with law, protect users, prevent fraud or abuse, or maintain the integrity of the Service.

Birdmember does not routinely read private communications. When reports involve messages or other private content, we handle relevant information in line with our Privacy Policy and only as needed to review the report, protect users, or meet legal obligations.

16. Appeals and questions

If you have questions about a moderation action or believe a decision was made in error, contact Birdmember Support. We will review outreach where appropriate.
